Honda Amaze launch on December 3: Will it steal Maruti Dzire’s thunder?

Honda Cars India has officially announced the launch date for the all-new Amaze. The third-generation compact sedan will debut on December 4. Recently, Honda released a teaser for the upcoming model, showcasing a significant shift from the conservative design of the second-generation Amaze, which was introduced in 2018. The new Amaze features a more modern and upscale appearance. Here’s everything we know so far about the sedan.

New Honda Amaze: Exteriors

The competition in the sedan segment is heating up with the upcoming launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire on November 11, followed by the Honda Amaze in December. Based on the partial reveal of the new Amaze showcased in the teaser, its front design appears to be inspired by the Honda Civic and Accord models. The car features a honeycomb grille prominently displaying the ‘Big H’ logo in the centre. Sleek LED headlights are connected by a chrome strip that runs above the grille. Additionally, the clamshell bonnet features aggressive character lines, giving the vehicle a more imposing road presence.

Unfortunately, Honda is tight-lipped about the rest of the angles of the new Amaze. It could take a sleek and sloping roofline like the Civic and the Accord, but being a mass-market vehicle, it’s expected to stick to the typical three-box sedan design.

New Honda Amaze: Interiors

The new Amaze will have a completely new cabin, which could be more on the lines of the City or the Elevate. It could get dual-tone interiors with a bigger infotainment system, an all-new instrument console and features like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless phone charger and a single-panel sunroof. Honda will up the ante when it comes to safety and the Amaze could offer features like 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and hill hold assist.

New Honda Amaze: Engine Specs

The current Amaze model is available only in petrol and features a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 88 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. This new sedan is expected to retain the same powertrain and will offer two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a CVT. Given the rising popularity of CNG vehicles, it will be interesting to see if Honda introduces a CNG variant of the Amaze.
