Honda electric two-wheeler concepts make global debut at EICMA

The EICMA is a great platform where manufacturers from across the globe, especially in the two-wheeler market, can showcase their future products in front of everyone. Honda has taken this opportunity to showcase two new fully-electric concept two-wheelers named EV Fun and EV Urban at the annual two-wheeler exhibition in Milan, Italy.

Both new models are expected to make it into production sometime in the future. The introduction of these two battery-powered models is in sync with Honda’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality for all of its motorcycle products in the 2040s and achieve overall carbon neutrality by 2050.

Honda EV Fun Concept

The EV Fun Concept is the first naked electric sports bike from Honda which is equipped with a fixed battery pack. The company claims “it offers performance equivalent to a mid-sized internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle”. A production version of the same is projected to go on sale next year.

Honda Fun EV

While on paper the prototype is still a concept, details such as the finalised brakes and suspension suggests that the EV Fun Concept is very near to production. Honda is yet to divulge any specific details about the bike but has confirmed that it will offer a range of around 100 km on a single charge. Further, the battery is compatible with the CCS2 quick charger.

Coming to its design, the EV Fun Concept definitely looks like a machine from the future which makes it very contemporary in the premium electric motorcycle market. The proportions are very geometric and the body panels appear to be well put together. One of the key highlights is the headlamp setup which is reminiscent of the Ola Electric Roadster.
