Royal Enfield electric bike breaks cover globally: Here’s what’s it called

The first ever electric motorcycle from Royal Enfield has finally broken covers. Called the “Flying Flea C6”, the bike pays homage to the machine used by the British Army during World War 2 which were “airdropped” by parachutes behind enemy lines. In development for around 7-8 years, a pre-production prototype of the electric motorcycle has made its debut at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy.

Codenamed Electrik01, this electric motorcycle will be built on Royal Enfield’s newly developed “L” platform which will also serve as the foundation for the brand’s future electric models, which are being co-developed with the Spanish electric two-wheeler company, Stark Future SL.

Recently, a test mule of the Flying Flea C6 was spotted testing on the streets of Barcelona in Spain where it is believed to have been designed and conceptualised. Royal Enfield is yet to disclose key details such as features and exact specification for the battery and motor for the electric motorcycle. Interestingly, it hasn’t been spotted testing on Indian roads yet, which suggests a market launch is still some time away.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6: Design

Starting with the visuals, it is very clear that the battery-powered Enfield takes inspiration from the original Flying Flea with minimalist bodywork and a slim, low-slung build featuring round headlamps, girder front forks, and long fender. This isn’t the first time that the Flying Flea has become an inspiration for other models. Back in the mid 2000s when Enfield was developing the Classic 350 and Classic 500, the Flying Flea was one of the primary sources of inspiration.

Compared to the current-gen Enfields, the electric bike looks lean and taut instead of bulky. Interestingly, the bike comes as a single-seater in the pre-production much like the original Flying Flea. Other visual highlights include an aluminium swingarm, alloy wheels, round mirrors along with relatively thin tyres.
