JSW Group in focus: JSW Energy adds 317 MW renewable energy capacity; JSW Infra too in expansion mode

JSW Group companies have been in focus. While JSW Energy boosted its renewable push with capacity addition, JSW Infra has made a brownfield rail siding acquisition. Both companies are betting on big expansion.

JSW Energy commissions 317 MW RE Capacity

JSW Energy, a JSW Group company, announced that it has commissioned renewable energy capacity of 317 MW during August 2025, taking the installed capacity to 13,097 MW.

In an exchange filing, JSW Energy said that the capacity addition is diversified across generation sources with Hydro of 240 MW, wind at 43 MW and solar at 34 MW. 

The company added that the share of renewable energy in its overall capacity has increased to 57 per cent, consisting of wind capacity at 3,617 MW, solar capacity at 2,192 MW and hydro capacity at 1,631 MW.

Furthermore, the company added that it has a total locked-in generation capacity of 30.3 GW, comprising 13.1 GW operational, 12.7 GW under construction across thermal and renewable space, and has a pipeline of 4.6 GW.

JSW Energy also has 29.4 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through hydro pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and a battery energy storage system of 3.0 GWh. As part of its expansion plans, JSW Energy is aiming to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030. 

JSW Infrastructure acquires brownfield rail siding for Rs 57 crore

JSW Infrastructure, India’s second‐largest private commercial port operator, has acquired a brownfield rail siding in Ballari, Karnataka. In an exchange filing, the JSW Group company said that it has acquired the rail siding from Hothur Ispat for Rs 57 crore. 

JSW Infrastructure said that it aims to develop an ecosystem of rail‐linked terminals and enhance multimodal connectivity through container rail services across strategic industrial corridors.

 At present, JSW Infrastructure operates rail‐linked terminals in Panvel, Maharashtra, and Morbi, Gujarat and has a Gati Shakti Terminal GCT under construction in Arakkonam, Chennai.
