Gameskraft rules out legal challenge against online gaming bill

Bengaluru-based online gaming company Gameskraft, on Tuesday, said it will not legally challenge the recently-enacted Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which has banned all real-money games in the country.

“As a responsible and law-abiding corporate entity, Gameskraft has no intention of pursuing any legal challenge to the legislation. We fully respect the legislative process and remain committed to operating within the framework of the law,” a company spokesperson said.

The statement comes a day after Dream11 CEO Harsh Jain announced his company would not challenge the ban legally, despite the legislation wiping out 95% of Dream11’s revenue and 100% of its profits.

Focus Shifts to New Opportunities

Gameskraft added that its focus will now be on exploring new opportunities aligned with the evolving legal landscape. “We have already initiated structured internal discussions to chart the road ahead. Our cross-functional teams are actively exploring future-ready solutions that align with the new regulatory framework,” the spokesperson said, adding that it is working in close coordination with auditors, banking partners, and legal advisors to ensure business continuity. The firm added that it has cleared all regulatory dues and taken steps to safeguard the interests of its employees, partners, vendors, and service providers.

Compliance and Long-Term Value

“Compliance has always been non-negotiable for us. While this moment brings challenges, it also brings the opportunity to reimagine what’s next – responsibly, lawfully, and in the interest of long-term value creation for all stakeholders,” the statement added.

As of August 21, the company stopped all ‘Gameplay’ and ‘Add Cash’ services across its Rummy platforms, well ahead of the Bill’s official notification. 

The bootstrapped startup founded in 2017, mainly focused on online real money rummy, and generated a revenue of Rs 3521.4 crore, while earning a profit of Rs  947.8 crore in FY24, according to Tracxn data.
