Mumbai dominates Hurun Women Leaders List: 38 influential women hail from Maximum City

Mumbai has emerged as the hub of the country’s most influential women leaders. The city is home to the majority of the Candere Hurun India Women Leaders list for 2025. Of the 97 most influential women leaders selected in the list, 38 hail from Mumbai.

The city is home to over 3x the number of women leaders than Delhi, which ranks in the second place with 12 women leaders. Not just that, Mumbai has the leading number of women leaders across categories such as professional, first-gen wealth creators, next-gen leaders, investors, philanthropists, artists, celebrities, and influencers. 

Notable professionals and investors from Mumbai in Hurun list

A large number of women leaders who are in leadership positions, investment, and other professions come from Mumbai. Some notable professional women leaders on the list from Mumbai include Shanti Ekambram from Kotak Mahindra Bank, Shweta Jalan from Advent International, Devanshi Kejriwal from Skillmatics, and Sharddha Kapoor from My Glamm.

Among the first-generation women wealth creators, Mumbai houses 3 of the 10 women on the list. Falguni Nayyar of Nayka, Kavita Subramanian of Upstox, and Juhi Chawla of Knight Riders Sports are the three first-gen wealth creators from Mumbai

Next-gen women leaders from Mumbai in Hurun India Women Leaders list for 2025

Half of the 10 women leaders of the next generation on the Candere Hurun list hail from the city. The names include Priya Agarwal Hebbar (Hindustan Zinc), Nisaba Godrej (Godrej Consumer Products), Farah Malik Bhanji (Metro Brands), Nandini Piramal (Piramal Pharma), and Tanya Dubash (Godrej Industries) 

Being the home of the Bollywood industry, 9 of the 10 women celebrities on the list come from Mumbai. These include notable women actors like Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Priyanka Chopra. However, in contrast to film celebrities, influencers who are the new celebrities on the internet come from a different range of cities like Vapi, Noida, Pune, and Gurugram. Only one woman influencer from Mumbai, Masoom Minawala, could make it to the Candere Hurun India Women Leaders list
