Skoda Kylaq base variant spied: Key features revealed

We recently had the chance to test drive the pre-production model of the Skoda Kylaq, and you can read our initial impressions of this compact SUV on our website. Just recently, the fully camouflaged base model of the Kylaq was spotted during testing, revealing some intriguing new details. Skoda’s most affordable vehicle and its first sub-4-metre SUV is set to be unveiled on November 6, with an official debut slated for next year. Here’s everything we know so far about the entry-level Kylaq.

Skoda Kylaq base variant: Design

Despite the heavy camouflage, it was clear that the Skoda Kylaq features a split headlight setup, which could be a combination of LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and halogen lamps. As expected, the base model skips alloy wheels in favour of 16-inch steel rims with all-black hub caps. Standard equipment includes front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. From the images, it appears this variant will not include a rear wiper or a rear defogger.

Skoda Kylaq base variant: Engine Specs and Rivals

Skoda has revealed that the Kylaq will feature a single engine option: a 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, delivering 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which debuted with the Kushaq in 2021 and the Slavia in 2022, the Kylaq promises robust performance. Safety is a top priority, with the Kylaq boasting 25 safety features, including six airbags, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, and Electronic Differential Lock.
