UltraTech Cement on Wednesday announced that it has commissioned an additional production capacity of 1.2 mtpa. In a regulatory filing, the cement major said, “As part of its capacity expansion programs, the company has identified several opportunities for debottlenecking and enhancing efficiency at various locations. We are pleased to inform that some of these initiatives have been successfully completed and stabilized, leading to an increased production capacity of 1.2 mtpa.
UltraTech Cement has added an integrated unit in Hirmi, Chhattisgarh to achieve an additional capacity of 0.8 mtpa and a grinding unit in Roorkee, Uttarakhand for an additional capacity of 0.4 mtpa.

With these additional, UltraTech’s total domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity now stands at 178.86 mtpa. Along with its overseas capacity of 5.4 mtpa, the company’s global capacity stands at 184.26 mtpa.
Earlier in January, UltraTech Cement released its fiscal third quarter earnings report with profit at Rs 1,473.51 crore, down 16.98 per cent in comparison to Rs 1,774.78 crore during the corresponding quarter of FY24. It recorded revenue from operations at Rs 17,193.33 crore, up 2.71 per cent YoY.
During the quarter, the company had achieved a capacity utilisation of 73 per cent. Domestic sales volume, meanwhile, went up by 10 per cent YoY. UltraTech said that energy costs were lower by 13 per cent YoY and 4 per cent QoQ during the period, mainly on account of decrease in fuel cost.
