Sensex Nifty Today | Stock Market Live Updates: It’s slipping in afternoon trade. The Nifty 50 slipped below 22,400 as tech stocks see severe selling pressure. The stocks continue to be under pressure for the second day on the trot. The Nifty IT Index is down over 3% and is hovering close to its 8-month lows. Also, mid- and small-cap stocks experienced a heavy blow.

Here are key factors to watch out for in trade-

  • Key data to be announced: India will report Consumer Price Index (CPI) or Inflation data for February 2025 later this week. Headline inflation for January came down to 4.31%, which was the lowest year-on-year inflation after August 2024
  • Trump’s tariffs: U.S. President Donald Trump has decided against raising tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports to 50%. This change of heart occurred six hours after Trump’s initial announcement to double the import duties on Canadian metals, which was in response to Ontario’s decision to impose a 25% tax on electricity exports to the United States. Nevertheless, a 25% tariff will still be implemented and is set to take effect on March 12.
  • FIIs continue selling: The foreign institutional investors are on a selling spree in the Indian equity markets. They have sold Rs 18,810.74 crore in March, 2025. This is the sixth consecutive month of selling. They sold the highest in October, just a month after Nifty and Sensex touched their all-time highs.
